- Compact fuse switch disconnectors with improved protection
The Siemens Industry Automation Division has now developed a new series of compact fuse switch disconnectors offering improved protection for personnel and plants as well as even more convenient connection. The reach-round and touch protection incorporated as standard in the new Sentron 3NP1 series prevents users from touching current conducting parts when the devices are mounted in a busbar system, even if they need to be accessed at the back.

Siemens Nederland N.V. has won a contract from Corus Strip Products IJmuiden to supply new drive technology for the existing hot strip mill no. 2. The drive systems are scheduled to be installed on the main drives of the seven-stand finishing line by spring 2012. The order is valued at several million euros. In 2006 and 2007, the automation for the hot strip mill no. 2 has already been modernized by Siemens in several stages.

The first of a total of eight high speed trains for Russian Railways (RZD) was shipped today from the rail ferry port in Sassnitz/ Mukran on the island of Rügen off the North German coast. The train ferry “Vilnius” will carry the train initially to Baltisk. From there it will be ferried on to the Russian Baltic Sea port of Ust Luga. The contract to ship the trains across the Baltic Sea was placed by Siemens AG, the manufacturer of the first fleet of Russian high speed trains, with DB Schenker, the logistics services supplier for Deutsche Bahn (DB AG).
